How to rent an item

8 steps — from finding what you need to returning it safely.

Reading time: ~4 min·Getting Started

Your payment is protected by escrow

Qloxet holds your payment until you confirm you have received the item in good condition. If something goes wrong, open a dispute and we step in.

1

Search for what you need

Go to Browse Listings or use the search bar. Filter by category, location, date range, price, and delivery options. You can also browse by category from the home page.

Tip:Use the date filter to only see items available during your rental period.
2

Check the listing carefully

Read the full description, look at all photos, check the pricing (hourly / daily / weekly), security deposit amount, and any owner rules. Watch the video if there is one.

Tip:Message the owner before booking if you have questions — most respond within a few hours.
3

Select your dates and book

Choose your rental start and end date/time. For Instant Book listings, your booking is confirmed immediately. For Request to Book listings, the owner has 24 hours to accept.

Tip:Instant Book listings are confirmed in seconds — great for last-minute needs.
4

Pay securely through escrow

You'll pay the rental fee plus the security deposit. Both amounts are held in escrow — the rental fee is released to the owner after you confirm pickup, and the deposit is returned after you return the item undamaged.

Tip:Never pay outside Qloxet — escrow protects both you and the owner.
5

Arrange pickup or delivery

Once your booking is confirmed and paid, the owner's pickup address is revealed. Coordinate the meetup via the in-app chat. If delivery was selected, the owner or courier will bring the item to you.

Tip:Always meet in a safe public location for high-value item pickups.
6

Take condition photos at pickup

Before you leave with the item, photograph it from all angles — including any pre-existing damage. Both you and the owner should confirm handover in the app. This protects you if there's a dispute on return.

Tip:Condition photos are your best protection. Take them every time, no exceptions.
7

Use the item and return it on time

Treat the item as carefully as if it were your own. Return it by the agreed time in the same condition. Late returns may incur hourly late fees set by the owner.

Tip:If you need to extend the rental, message the owner in-app before the end time.
8

Confirm return and leave a review

After returning the item, confirm the return in the app. The owner also confirms. Once both parties confirm, the security deposit is released back to you. Then leave an honest review — it helps the community.

Tip:Reviews are mutual — the owner reviews you too. Be a good renter and you'll build a strong reputation.
